Seriously, fuck flying. Coming at you live from the torn-apart terminal at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where after 20 minutes of walking and riding trains they change your gate assignment to a spot 300 feet away from where you started. Atlanta airport where even though it's only 55 degrees out the A/C still can't function. Why is it always so hot and humid in here?
I'm sitting here waiting out multiple flight delays because of severe thunderstorms. Severe thunderstorms! Two days before Christmas!
I know I'm a bit far south for snow, but isn't it supposed to be cool and gray and somewhat mild right now?
Ugh. I can't wait to get to my parents' place to have a cold beer and a shower. Preferably at the same time.

I use that tactic too. Start the first beer in the shower. Why waste any time?

Not possible. Otherwise I'd already be there, with car.

Why would you land at ATL? The traffic in and out of there is crazy. You should have re-fueled at Fulton County (FTY). They don't have a landing fee and their pilot's lounge is pretty sweet...
...oh, you meant riding in an airliner with the smelly peasants. I hate that. It sucks.

Driving is kind of shitty right now too, especially if your route takes you within 12 miles of a shopping mall.

Hah, I only wish I had the skills and resources to do it myself.
And I also wish I had any other choice but Atlanta. The tiny airport I'm flying into only has service to Atlanta and Baltimore, and the Baltimore option didn't fit my schedule at all, not even close.

I flew through Baltimore once. Trust me, Atlanta is better. Even at this time of year.

A few things to consider:
1) Those of us who live in Atlanta are also saying WTF about the weather. We should not have thunder in December. Hell, we had thunder and SNOW last winter. Thanks global warming. It's is raining buckets at my house on the NE side of town.
2) Sitting in a crowded airport is much, much better than sitting on a plane as it hits winds hear on climb out or another plane it didn't see due to reduced visibility. They slow the airport down in this kind of weather for a reason.
3) if they have posted a departure time, and it is a ways out, head for the quiet of F terminal.

If you are at the domestic terminal, GI to the entrance for the metro and sit on the indoor curb, it is nomralky cooler in that room.
